We would
like to invite you to the CORE underground computer arts meeting, also known
as demoscene party.
In Hungary, sceneparties already have a decade of tradition. In the past years,
some parties achieved exceptional importance and fame. One party, AntiQ, held
in Pécs in the last five years, rose above the others. Unfortunately,
despite the great success, the organizers decided that last year's AntiQ 2000
was the last. We thought, however, that the party-traditions in august have
to live on, that's why we started the organizing of CORE.
The orgainizing staff is regularly attending the country-wide held parties for
many years now, and during this time, we also have played a significant role
in the organizing of several parties. We hope that we have gathered enough experience
and skill to provide a smooth party with great atmosphere for everyone's satisfaction.
The basis of a good atmosphere is if you go to a party that is for You. CORE
is for you, if you are interested in alternative arts and computers, if you
are a lover of some old computer type, if you are curious what the newest hardwares
are capable of, if they are used in expert coding hands. But be aware that this
party is NOT the best choice for you, if you are only interested in computer
games, and you wanna just some network play...
The partyplace:
Apáczai Csere János General Community
Center
Zalaegerszeg, Apáczai Square 5.
This estabilishment can be found in the so-called Garden-city, and besides containing
a kindergarten, a primary school and a grammar school, it also frequently hosts
various cultural programs, concerts and movie screenings. The building itself
is big enough for about 300 people. The institution provides the chairs for
yer butt, tables for yer stuff, and power for yer bigtowers and 21" monitors
(on request, we also install it into the chairs :).
Date and time of CORE:
August 17-19, 2001.
Opening: Friday
afternoon 16:00
Closing: Sunday
morning 9:00
Price of admission for the three days: 1500 HUF
Note that we can't provide a one-day admission card. Entrance for girls is free,
but you can only vote at the compos if you buy an addmission card.
By train
The most simple thing is, if you come with intercity. You get on the train at
Budapest South Railway Station, and after about 3 hours you get off in Zalaegerszeg.
That's all. However, if you come with express train, there are some things good
to know. First of all if you come from Budapest, pay attention that you get
in the right carriage, because generally one train is travelling to Szombathely
and Zalaegerszeg, which is split up at Boba station. The carriages coming to
Zalaegerszeg can be found generally at the end of the train, but if you are
unsure, try to ask somebody.
People coming from the direction of Pécs, Szombathely and Nagykanizsa,
be aware that most of the time you have to change trains at Zalaszentiván
station. Before you come, take a look at Elvira (www.elvira.hu), because due
to the new railroad connection with Slovenia, many things have changed and will
change. The place can be reached from the railway station by the number 10Y
and 11Y buses. Unfortunately these buses are a bit rare, so we recommend that
with help of the provided map, find a way to
a bus stop of the number 8, 8E or 8C buses, (approx. 250m from the railway station,
3 mins walk), because these bring you almost directly to the partyplace (running-time
is about 10 mins).
By bus
The mass transit companies run direct buses countrywide from all big cities
to Zalaegerszeg. Arriving at the bus station, start off towards the information
box and waiting hall. Walk by the left side of the big timetables, leaving the
bus station, walk through between the shops. Before you are two big flats, if
you go between them through, you get to a parking lot. Go through it and you
will get to a one-way two-lane street. This is the Károly Kovács
Square. 30 metres to the left is a bus stop, facing the Domus and Centrum stores.
The number 8 bus is starting off from here, which gets you in about 15 mins
to the partyplace. If you accidentally get to McDonald's, there you can also
get on the buses 8, 8E or 8C. If you get lost, you can always try to ask someone.
There is another possibility for the people coming from Budapest, the Gratis
Bus, which starts on Friday at 16:15 from the front of South Railway Station,
and only stops once on the highway, before it arrives in Zalaegerszeg at 19:40.
This is the fastest and probably the most comfortable way of travelling to Zalaegerszeg.
It is also possible to transport your computers on the bus. Arriving at Zalaegerszeg,
the bus stops at McDonald's, where you can directly get on the buses 8, 8E or
8C. Final stop is at the railway station, from there you can reach the number
8 bus' stop in 3 mins. The bus starts off back to Budapest on Sunday at 13:00
from the railway station and arrives at 16:25.
By car
With the help of a roadmap, find a way to Zalaegerszeg. From this, follow the
map provided regarding the following:
If you come from the direction of Balaton on road no. 76, reaching the city
limits, after the traffic circle you get to a wide four-lane road. Go over the
big railroad overpass, then on the left comes the bus station, then right a
big temple with two towers. At this corner is the McDonald's, too, left across,
you can't miss it. Turn left at the traffic lights in line with the temple towers.
This is a one-way street, both lanes lead south through the city centre. Get
into the right lane, go until the lanes split at a statue. Here are traffic
lights again. Turn right (you can't turn elsewhere). You are on a wide 4-lane
street (Göcseji St.) At the second traffic lights turn left. Now you are
on Köztársaság street. Go straight on it. After a little
while you leave the houses with gardens behind you, and you reach a housing
estate. Continue straight forward, until you get to a bus turning after a Smack!
store. Here a little street leads through the houses, which ends in a parking
lot after about 30 metres. If you got so far, you have to see already a building
with big AMK label on it, which is the partyplace.
People coming from the direction of Körmend have a 10 minutes trip through
the city until the city centre after they reach Zalaegerszeg. As you go over
the bridge of River Zala, on the right are some big grain silos. Then come the
Shell and Agip gas stations, a railroad crossing, a big factory on the left,
houses with gardens on the right. After this come the traffic lights, go straight
through them. After the fourth, you have to see the temple with two towers on
the left, and the McDonald's on the right. Here, at the fifth traffic lights,
turn right onto the one-way street. From now on follow the directions above,
so straight until the statue, then right, at the second lights left, finally
straight until the bus turning, then left.
Those who come from the direction of Vasvár or Sümeg, go over the
bridge of River Zala, then the railroad crossing (this is another bridge and
crossing than mentioned above, but you go over the same river and railroad :).
After this you have to see the temple with two towers. The road goes round the
temple to the right, then you have to see McDonald's across and right. Go straight
onto the one-way street (Kossuth St.) From now on follow the directions above,
so straight until the statue, then right, at the second lights left, finally
straight until the bus turning, then left.
If you come from the direction of Nagykanizsa, go until you reach a wide, four-lane
street (Balaton St.) Turn left here. Now comes the railroad overpass mentioned
above. From now on follow the directions above, so go into the city until the
temple, then left, straight until the statue, then right, at the second lights
left, finally straight until the bus turning, then left.
